Does Endocrine & Diabetes Plus accept UnitedHealthcare?
Yes. We accept most UHC commercial plans including Choice Plus PPO, Navigate HMO, and UHC Medicare Advantage at both our Sugar Land and Memorial City locations. Call 832-968-7003 to verify your specific UHC plan before your first visit.
Do I need a referral with UnitedHealthcare to see an endocrinologist?
UHC Choice Plus and other PPO plans generally allow direct specialist access without a referral. UHC Navigate and other HMO plans typically require a referral from your primary care provider. Check your plan documents or call the UHC member services number on your insurance card.
Does UHC cover GLP-1 medications for weight loss or diabetes?
Coverage varies by plan. Most UHC commercial plans cover GLP-1 agonists (semaglutide, tirzepatide) for Type 2 diabetes when prescribed by a specialist. Some plans also cover GLP-1 drugs for obesity with prior authorization. Our team assists with the prior authorization process.
What endocrine services are covered by UHC at your clinic?
UHC covers medically necessary endocrinology visits for diabetes, thyroid disorders, PCOS, osteoporosis, adrenal and pituitary conditions, testosterone deficiency, and calcium disorders. CGMs and insulin pumps are covered for qualifying patients, and in-office procedures such as FibroScan and thyroid FNA are covered when medically indicated.
